Soul of the World - Joshua Silverman

by Joshua Silverman

The ancient powers lost to Potara have returned. The Brotherhood of the Black Rose rises to bring Thoth into disorder. And, while the Brotherhood reclaims their power, chaos reigns among the survivors. Six individuals have emerged from the aftermath struggling for control over their lives and a divided land. Kem and Shirin, who abolished the five thousand year reign of the Amun Priests, rule from the golden throne of the Oracle’s Chair in the Hall of the Nine. Dio and Axios struggle to piece together a resistance worthy to challenge the ancient magic which resides in the Great Temple of Amun, and Leoros and Atlantia try to remain true to their hearts and their cause despite tragedy. But when the Book of Breathings is discovered, the path to immortality is revealed. Leoros and Kem race to capture the Soul of the World unaware of the challenges awaiting them. This time, the gods themselves will intervene. In a tale where boys become men and girls become women, where treachery and deception are around every corner, and where primeval mysticism finds its way back from the grave, victory is reserved for neither the good nor the evil, but the powerful.

Guest reviewer JC:

Joshua Silverman’s second foray into the ancient realm of Potara is a great piece of fiction that could go toe-to-toe with any other indie writer in the fantasy genre. Soul of the World takes place after the events of his first book, The Emerald Tablet, and focuses on the struggle for power in this new and exciting world. Like most fantasy stories, this one has many characters and a wide sweeping environment and many authors get lost in the story and forget about the characters, but not Silverman. His characters are fully developed, and we begin to feel for them from the very beginning. His narrative is action packed and filled with the guts and glory attitude that pervades most fantasy writings, but with a humanity that is lost in many other stories. If you’re looking for a great read that mixes an epic conflict with the trials and tribulations of the everyman, then read The Emerald Tablet and the Soul of the World. He’ll take you on an amazing journey through a world fraught with peril and miracles.

One of the most venerated Sufi poets and saints, Hazrat Sultan Bahu’s life has been as veiled as the divine. Through countless stories, the loveable and fully illumined spiritual master’s life has been told mostly through oral tradition. Using the deep emotions of his teachings, this inspiring new book uses the depth of Sultan Bahu to ignite the love of God in readers’ hearts while uplifting them to greater heights. The Spirit of a Sultan is a mystical new novel based on the true life accounts of Sufi reverend, poet, and saint, Sultan Bahu. A historical biography reminiscent of Autobiography of a Yogi, the novel uses a slight fictional component to create a spiritual atmosphere throughout the story. A spellbinding tale of enlightenment, this wonderful book follows Sultan Bahu’s life history and spiritual journey while showing us all how to connect with God in our hearts and minds. Written in an extraordinarily unique and intriguing style, The Spirit of a Sultan portrays the true account of a saint who shares a great many parallels with Guatama Buddha. Following a man who gave away his wealth, land, and legacy in order to pursue an austere existence in search of the truth while teaching others the realization of God and special meditation techniques, the novel inspires readers everywhere to re-examine their own lives and their relationships with God.

Review:
This is a book that details the life of the renowned Sufi poet and saint Hazrat Sultan Bahu. It begins with an account of his father and moves on to his birth and to his time as a traveling teacher. And then 300 years later, to Faqir Nur Muhammad, who studied Bahu’s writings and taught them.
It is a book that while steeped in Islamic teachings, can be enjoyed by anyone seeking spiritual enlightenment. Bahu was not only a divine saint, his writings and poetry impart wisdom that any seeker of God can appreciate and learn from.
I really enjoyed all the stories the author narrates. They detail what we would call miracles as he visited and helped others. He lived an austere life, giving up riches and family life to travel and impart his wisdom. He healed the sick and his mere gaze could convert people to Islam.
It was interesting to see what constitutes a saint versus a prophet in this religion. I love learning new things and this book gave me new insight into the Muslim religion. The Asian history was also fascinating. We now read about these places on the news and in the book, they are full of tribes and kingdoms, rich in treasures.

I encourage anyone interested in Islam to read this book to better understand some of the teachings. It was a beautifully written tale!

My Review - T. Warwick did an amazing job, this world was amazing  and very scary. Artificial Mirage has something for everyone - Romance, Sci-fi, and Crime. The story starts out with a bang - Charlie is wrongly accused for crime he didn't commit and chaos ensues. If you don't read Sci-fi there are some terms used you may not be familiar with  but you will learn them as you read.

This book reads like a movie playing out, it was interesting and the author's descriptions are fantastic. I really really hope there is a second book.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review, no other compensation was received.

State of Decay - Part One

Despite what you’ve been told, the Apocalypse doesn’t begin with fire raining down from the heavens, nor does it begin with the human race falling down on their faces in supplication before a triumphant god. No, the sounds of the Apocalypse are much more terrifying than that, and I should know … I’ve heard them, and hearing the world tumble into chaos around me is not something I’ll ever forget.
My name is Melody Carter.
A Boeing 767 fell from the sky and wiped out most of my neighborhood.
But, that's the least of my worries.
My list of "Things I'm Most Worried About" shifted dramatically when my dad told me that charred corpses tried to make a meal out of their rescuers ... I'm thinking yours would too.
This is the beginning of my story.
It's not for the faint of heart.

*** This is PART ONE in the ongoing zombie apocalypse novella series, State of Decay. A new story will be released every 3-4 weeks, until Melody's story has been told. This novella is approximately 20,000 words. (About 80+/- pages long) ***
****** Warning: This book is for mature/NA/Adult Readers. This novella contains: tons of violence, lots of action, gobs of gore, and oodles of bad language. Enter at your own risk. *****

Review- I'm usually not one for zombies but after seeing something on Facebook about this book I bought it. Wow, just wow. I read it in about an hour. This was my first book by the author and now I want to read everything she has written. It grabbed it right away and Melody was such a strong character. You felt everything she did. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Colby Winters, an elite member of The Titan Group, has a single objective on his black ops mission: recover a document important to national security. It was supposed to be an easy in-and-out operation. But now, by any means necessary becomes a survival mantra when he faces off with a stunning woman he can’t leave behind.
MUST PARTNER TO SURVIVE

Review - With a cover like this I HAD to buy it. It took me until I got to Mia's POV before I really got into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. It had plenty of action *wink* *wink* , but seriously it was action packed, romance, actual depth to the book. It was an awesome start to the series and I will be buying every single one of her books.

About Author Liz Schulte

Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn’t always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more. When Liz isn’t writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between. Follow Liz Schulte: Website | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads
